Countdown: Bocuse d'Or Europe in Stockholm

In recent years the city of Stockholm has gained international attention and reputation as a place where chefs are reinventing their roots and food traditions, and are creating new. Here, gastronomy intersects with design, fashion, music, gaming and technology – making it an ideal location for the most anticipated culinary competition of the year. Stockholm is arguably where the new Swedish gastronomy got its start and where it continues to develop.

The European finals of the world’s most prestigious cooking competition, Bocuse d’Or takes place in Stockholm, May 7-8th. The event takes place in conjunction with Gastro Nord, The leading trade fair for the food and beverage industry in Northern Europe. Twelve chefs will be selected from the 20 participating European countries to continue to the world championship in Lyon in 2015.

The city of Stockholm is expecting an invasion of European chefs, producers, trade representatives and foodies during the competition. The country’s top chefs and restaurateurs are gathering forces to showcase the best of our local gastronomy in and outside the tournament. From the 19th century market hall, restaurants, typical cafées, to the herring chart (Stekt strömming), micro-breweries and hot dog stands, foodies will find more than enough fare worth sampling in the city that has been called “Europe’s surging culinary star”.

Why did you select Stockholm?
"Stockholm is definately a new culinary destination with its new ideas within gastronomy. And new products and new tecniques. And this is what Bocuse d'Or is all about,
Mr Florent Suplisson Gastronomic Event Director, GL Event in Lyon, France

Why should you go to stockholm
"The food scene in Stockholm is quite interesting on many different levels, not only the top restaurants. There is a great buzz around food in general. And there's a new interest among us to go out to go out to eat and hang out in bars. We like life, Mathias Dahlgren, Michelin Star chef in Stockholm and Honorary President of Bocuse d’Or Europe in Stockholm 2014
