Djurgården: A new visitors center opens this summer

A new visitor center will open this summer on the island of Djurgården in Stockholm city. The island of Djurgården is where you will find some of the most popular museums and attractions in Stockholm. Among them ABBA The Museum, Skansen, Gröna Lund amusement park, Junibacken and Vasamuseet.

The island of Djurgården is home to some 20 attractions and numerous restaurants and cafées. Situated next to the Djurgården Bridge, the new visitors center will be a natural meeting point on the island for all visitors. Here you can rent a bike, paddling-boat or canoe, buy tickets, find info on all attractions and enjoy a lighter lunch.  

The new building, designed by architect Michael Klingermann from ETTELVA Architects is a transparent pavilion surrounded by flower beds and seating. The new center is 250 square meters. Building extended pitch roof is designed as an arcade running along the façade. The back is designed as a pergola and will become a natural extension of the surrounding park.

NOTE! The Visit Djurgården visitor center  is delayed and will open later on in June. The Visitor Center is a collaboration project between Kungliga Djurgårdens Förvaltning and Djurgårdsbrons Sjöcafé among others.
