Stockholm Art Week - dedicated to contemporary art

You may be short of cash after christmas, so why not boost with inspiration in Stockholm. The year starts of with Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (28-30 January)  followed by the Stockholm Design Week (4-10 february)  and then Contemporary Art. Stockholm Art Week will run from February 11-17. A busy week showcasing the best from the Stockholm art scene, including artfairs and exhibitions at the leading art institutions in Stockholm.

Stockholm is the home of extraordinary institutions, museums and art galleries. And is now aiming to be the top destination for contemporary art. Here some of the hightlights during Stockholm Art Week - www.stockholmartweek.se .

  • For the eighth year in a row, MARKET will gather the leading Scandinavian galleries and artists and present a wide selection from the contemporary art world at Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, Fredsgatan 12. 

  • One of the highlights of the week is "Gallery night" on Saturday February 16, when the leading art galleries in Stockholm will be opening new exhibitions.

  • The artist-run fair – Supermarket Art Fair – will take place at Kulturhuset (The Culture House, Sergels Torg Square) showcase for unknown artists' initiatives from all over the world and to create opportunities for new networks in the Swedish and international art scenes.

  • The leading Scandinavian Antiques Fair is an annual highlights for lovers of antiques and interior design. The fair takes place at Stockholmsmässan Fair, Älvsjö.
  • Fotografiska will launch PhotoMarket, a fair showcasing some of the world's leading photography galleries.

  • Leading insitutions in Stockholm: Moderna Museet in Stockholm will open its major exhibit of Hilma af Klint, and Waldermarsudde will open an exhibition with fashion photography by Carl-Johan De Geer. Liljevalchs has a special programme during the Spring Salon. Futhermore, Bonniers Konsthall, Sven Harrys, Absolute Art Collection and many others will contribute to making it a rewarding week.
