One of the favorite weeks of the year for design lovers is here: Stockholm Design Week and Stockholm Furniture Fair. This year with a huge interest from international media. Some sixty journalists representing the leading interior design magazines all over the world travel to take part of the events. Among them Elle Décor/Elle Decoration from several countries, german Schöner Wohnen, UK Wallpaper, UK Modenus, Danish BoBedre, Italian Interni, French Ideat and many more.
The main highlight is of course the Stockholm Furniture Fair, but the media program also includes a selection of exhibitions and studio visits. Follow Stockholm Design Week: #2013sdw Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair: #2013sff. Here are the highlights in the program this year:
Asshoff & Brogård Design Studio
Johanna Asshoff and Hanna Brogård Both met at the Malmstens design school and started a design studio, focusing on functional products that tell a story and creates a poetic and dramatic everyday scenery. Both are originally trained cabinet makers and have performed prize winning design and exhibitions together.
No Early Birds studio
No Early Birds is a timeless design collection designed and produced by Per Söderberg. His trademark is conscious design with a significant expression from tactile and elegant materials.
Note Design Studio
Note is one of the leading Stockholm-based design studio founded in 2008. They work within the fields of architecture, interiors, products, graphic design and design strategy.
Studio Färg & Blanche
Fredrik Färg and Emma Marga Blanche are working with several furniture producers and also created some of the most talked about events at last years furniture fair. This year they show new work for Gärsnäs and their own new design collection " New Dresses-Couture and pret a porter for chair".
Glass Elephant - Signature exhibition
Stockholm Design Week's signature exhibition - Glass Elephant - is a poetic design installation focusing on design, form and art. The exhibition will take place in the caverns of the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities. Designers taking part are: Åsa Jungnelius, Ann Wåhlström; Carina Seth Andersson; Katja Pettersson; Magnus Elebäck and Chris Martin, Massproductions; Note Design Studio; Simon Klenell and John Astbury:
Spike – Alexander Lervik/ Gallery Pascale
A sculptural chair with a strong graphic identity by Alexander Lervik is sold in a limited edition at Gallery Pascale. When: starting Feb 5, Where: Gallery Pascale
Light Works exhibition
The lighting producer Belid is showing their new luminary collection at Galleri Kleerup, 4-9 February. The collection is designed by leading Swedish designers: Alexander Lervik, Katja Pettersson, Folkform and Johan Carpenter.
Show Off exhibition
Eight independent Swedish design brands show their latest products at Wetterling Gallery, 4-9 February. The brands are: String, A2 designers, Kateha, Klong, Scherlin Form, Zweed and Skargaarden.
