11 million guestnights in Stockholm 2013

2013 was a new record year for the Stockholm County's commercial establishments, with close to 11 million guestnights. It is an increase by +2,5 percent, compared to the previous year. Sweden in total experienced an increase of 2 percent during the same period. 

The year ended with 660 000 guestnights in December. It is an increase by 4 percent, compared to the same month last year. December represented a gain for international guestnights with 14 percent and a slight decrese in domestic guestnights. 

Throughout 2013, however, the trend has been most positive for domestic visitors (+3 %) compared to international (+1 %). The strongest international gain came from outside Europe with +6 percent for the whole of 2013. The largest foreign markets are Germany followed by Great Britain, USA and Norway.

During the past ten years the number of guest nights has doubled. The goal is to reach 15 million guest nights by 2020.
