745 000 bednights in Stockholm March 2013

742 000 bednights was made in hotels and other commercial accommodations in Stockholm County during March 2013. It is 12 000 less, a decrease of 2 percent, due to fewer domestic bednights. The number of international bednights increased slightly.

The number of swedish visitors fell by more than 2%, while foreign visitor’s overnight stays increased slightly. The decline has taken place in the county outside the city of Stockholm.

Notably, the Easter week this year was in the last week of March, while last year it was a little later, in April. At hotels there has been a shift from business travelers to leisure travelers since March last year.

In the country as a whole overnight stays fell by 1%.

During the past  ten years the number of bed nights has doubled. And the goal is to reach 15 million bed nights nights by 2020. In 2012, Stockholm had 10.8 million bed nights. So far this year, Stockholm has 1.9 million bed nights, which is a decrease of 3 percent compared with the same period last year.
