Stockholm - Europe's best cruise destination

null

Stockholm is one of Europes most popular cruise destination, with more than 400 000 cruise passengers every year.  Stockholm was named Europe's Best Cruise Destination at the prestigious Cruise International Awards 2013, awarded by the readers of Cruise International Magazine.

24,000 cruise lovers can’t be wrong. That’s how many people cast their votes for Stockholm as the number one cruise port in Europe. Stockholm was chosen in a strong competition with Barcelona, the Norwegian Fjords, St Petersburg and Venice. Cruise International is a U.K. based independent cruise magazine dedicated to helping consumers choose the best cruising has to offer.

- Stockholm hotels and attractions are generally thought of as ‘high class,’ and the city itself gets very high customer satisfaction ratings on shore excursions. Ever the dynamic city, Stockholm continues to entice passengers with new attractions and events each year, said Claudia Quas, Project Manager for the Stockholm Cruise Network

In 2012 Stockholm ports reported their busiest season ever, hosting a record-breaking 467,000 passengers. A total of 274 ships visited the two main ports of Stockholm during the summer season.  This year, Quas expects numbers to be even higher, predicting 284 ships and half a million passengers will visit Stockholm.

Stockholm is leading the way as a cruise destination, but is hardly an overnight success. The Stockholm Cruise Network was founded in 2001 and we have continuously worked  to make sure that the city offers the best possible cruise experience for visiting passengers. Stockholm can accommodate the world’s largest cruise ships to its port; $8.7 million of improvements are currently being planned for its cruise piers in 2013 alone.

Stockholm Cruise Network is a partner-based collaborative project that includes the Stockholm Visitors Board, Ports of Stockholm, Swedavia and some 30 other partners, comprising tour operators, port agents, hotels, attractions and transport representatives. The aim of the network is to work jointly to promote and develop Stockholm as a cruise destination. www.stockholmshamnar.se www.traveltrade.visitstockholm.com
