In 2012 Stockholm ports reported their busiest season ever, hosting a record-breaking 467,000 passengers. A total of 274 ships visited the two main ports of Stockholm during the summer season. This year, Quas expects numbers to be even higher, predicting 284 ships and half a million passengers will visit Stockholm.
Stockholm is leading the way as a cruise destination, but is hardly an overnight success. The Stockholm Cruise Network was founded in 2001 and we have continuously worked to make sure that the city offers the best possible cruise experience for visiting passengers. Stockholm can accommodate the world’s largest cruise ships to its port; $8.7 million of improvements are currently being planned for its cruise piers in 2013 alone.
Stockholm Cruise Network is a partner-based collaborative project that includes the Stockholm Visitors Board, Ports of Stockholm, Swedavia and some 30 other partners, comprising tour operators, port agents, hotels, attractions and transport representatives.
