Stockholm: again one of Europe's fastest growing tourist destinations

In 2014, Stockholm had 11.8 million guest nights, which is an increase of 7.8 percent compared with 2013. This puts Stockholm in fourth place among the fastest growing cities and 13th place overall in the European Cities Marketing Benchmarking Report 2014-2015, which includes 119 European cities.

“Stockholm is growing, but not fast enough. After a few weak years, we can now conclude that Stockholm is once again among the fastest growing destinations in Europe. That’s good, but it has to be better if we’re going to reach our goal of being one of Europe’s top ten. Together with the hospitality industry, we are now improving Stockholm’s offering,” says Thomas Andersson, CEO of Stockholm Visitors Board.

Stockholm is Sweden’s engine for growth. So far this year, January-April, Stockholm has had 3.2 million guest nights, which is an increase of 10 percent compared with the same period last year.
