“Local chefs in Stockholm have turned the country into Europe’s surging culinary star.” Raphael Kadushin, Condé Nast Traveler July 2012

“Stockholm’s relatively small size seems to have worked in its favor when it comes to the city’s ambition to be considered one of Europe’s creative hubs.
The effect of its creative professionals working in such close proximity has seen the Swedish capital produce an output that is more than the sum of its parts.”  M Kaczmarski, fDi Magazine

Creative industries are flourishing in Stockholm. Innovative, open-minded people are moving here, dreams are imagined and cultivated here, and from here, those dreams can stretch far beyond the borders of Sweden. Stockholm is currently strengthening its position as a creative hub in Europe. On May 6-9, 2014, the world’s most prestigious culinary competition, Bocuse d’Or Europe, will take place in Stockholm at Stockholmsmässan in conjunction with the GastroNord trade fair.

Stockholmer Adam Dahlberg will represent Sweden at the kickoff of Bocuse d’Or in Lyon on January 29-30, 2013. Participants in Sweden’s stand at the competition area will include a delegation from Stockholm comprising Margareta Björk, President of the Stockholm City Council, Olle Zetterberg, CEO of Stockholm Business Region and responsible for promoting Stockholm as an investment and tourist destination, and Patrik Sjöberg, CEO of Stockholmsmässan, where Bocuse d’Or will be held in 2014.

“The rapidly growing restaurant and hospitality industry is generating jobs for young people and people born abroad. By highlighting talent like Adam and by moving the city’s administration, we’re freeing up space for new hotels, restaurants and residences in Stockholm,” says Margareta Björk, President of the Stockholm City Council.

With nearly 11 million guest nights annually, Stockholm is one of the most popular destinations in Europe. In the last ten years, the number of guest nights has risen by 41 percent, making Stockholm one of Europe’s fastest growing destinations. The hospitality industry in Stockholm generates 20,000 full-time jobs and brings the city SEK 23 billion in revenue.

“Hosting Bocuse d’Or, the world’s most prestigious cooking competition, strengthens Stockholm’s image as an innovative European city and attracts new talent. The event helps attract visitors and future investors,” says Olof Zetterberg, CEO of Stockholm Business Region.
