Openness, acceptance and equality are core values in Stockholm. Today’s main event in Eurovision Village is about the freedom of speech through music, an arrangement from Kulturhuset Stadsteatern and the City of Stockholm’s Department for Human Rights and Democracy.
Kulturhuset Stadsteatern and the Stockholm Department for Human Rights and Democracy arrange this concert with artists who through the power of music fight for a better world.
During the concert Freemuse gives out their annual award to a musician that has fought censorship. Freemuse is a non-profit organization that monitors different kinds of censorships affecting artists all over the world.
There will be lots of music; pop, rock, jazz, big band and funk, when students from Europe’s largest school of the arts, Kulturskolan Stockolm, enter the stage. Come listen to a fun, fast-paced and charming show!
Around the world, artists, musicians and authors are living under threat and persecution because of their art. Sweden is one of the countries in the world that is most generous and open towards refugees fleeing persecution because of their artwork. Networks, municipalities and the government are deeply committed to this issue.
Why and how are artists being censored? Why are foreign artists given refuge in Sweden?
Welcome to an important discussion, moderated by music journalist Ametist Azordegan.
The discussion is arranged by Kulturhuset Stadsteatern and the Stockholm
Department for Human Rights and Democracy.
